Light of Life Christian Group (LLCG) is a private voluntary organization developing
programs and projects to help vulnerable children in Zimbabwe, Southern Africa. We are an interdenominational faith-based private voluntary organisation (PVO 04/2007) operating in the Kwekwe district. Our offices are located at Gaika plot (+/- 2km from Kwekwe town). We work with the department of Social Development, who refer deserving beneficiaries to the organisation. We value and respect the family unit, therefore assist orphaned and vulnerable children from their homes, with some of the families being child headed, with one parent or the children will be staying with relatives LLCG is a non-profit organization that empowers children in need of care and protection because of loss of parents, poverty or neglect, to become productive members of the community.
We aim to significantly contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of
promoting good education, zero hunger, no poverty, good health and well-being, gender equality and climate action. We are also contributing to social protection for all in the National Development Goals (NDS1).
Besides the health and nutrition benefits, our basic food support has become invaluable in enabling children to continue their education without struggling to find food each day. We provide mealie-meal, sugar beans, cooking oil and washing soap which are basic essentials that we give to our children under our care and enable them to focus on their education.
Education is at the heart of LLCGs’ mission. We support local communities in their efforts to ensure that children – including the most vulnerable and marginalized – have the right to a quality education. We assist by providing school fees, uniforms and other supporting materials from primary school, secondary school to tertiary level.
Our counseling services offer children the opportunity to identify the factors that contribute
to the difficulties they face and to find solutions to effectively manage psychological,
behavioral, interpersonal and situational causes of those challenges. We assist vulnerable
children to find solutions that empower and protect them by providing information on:
• Child protection
• Psychosocial support
• Career guidance
One of the main benefits of our counselling support program for children is that it teaches them how to effectively manage emotional distress and anxiety.
We value and follow child protection rights as recommended by the United Nations Convention on Rights of Children (UNCRC), African Charter on The Welfare and Rights of Children (ACWRC) and Zimbabwe Constitution any other relevant documents on child protection.
